School
At the heart of this three-week summer school is the desire for participants to encounter the glory of God in the face of our Lord Jesus Christ and to know life in the Trinity experientially, through worship, learning and being in community together.
This extended retreat—three times longer than any other we offer—is designed for those in a season of transition. It provides an unhurried space to wait before the Lord and be refreshed in His love before stepping into a new chapter. This could include church leaders on sabbatical, recent university graduates, or anyone seeking to pause, listen, and discern God’s direction.
“The Lord’s breast: the knowledge of God. Whoever rests upon it will be a theologian.”
— St. Evagrius
We will dwell in the Holy Scriptures together, deepen our understanding of the church’s sacramental life, and grow in experiencing the gifts of the Holy Spirit, particularly the revelatory gifts of wisdom, knowledge, prophecy, and discernment of spirits.
Our days begin with Holy Communion, from which all our theological learning flows. Our life of worship shapes our life together. Following a morning lecture or prophetic exercise, there is time for private prayer and study. Afternoons provide space for both work and reflection as we engage contemplatively with the land at Greenwood.
Evenings bring opportunities for worship nights, film showings, and fireside chats, all woven into the rhythm of the school. Individual spiritual direction is available to students who desire it. Ample time is given for you to explore Greenwood Retreat’s seventy acres or venture further afield to enjoy the beauty of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.
