Staying at Greenwood

Greenwood is home to the Way of the Beloved. There are three cottages available for those wishing to stay here.

Each of the open-plan cottages has its own character and is thoughtfully designed, offering comfortable, welcoming spaces that sit naturally within their surroundings.

The total capacity for all properties is 4 couples or 8-9 individuals.

Darach Mòr

Gaelic for big oak

SLEEPS 2 - 4

This is the set-apart cottage at Greenwood for the Way of the Beloved. Benefiting from lower rental rates and more short-stay flexibility.

Greenwood’s grounds are home to ancient oaks and a huge variety of trees, rare lichens and bryophytes found in the Celtic temperate rainforest. Oaks often symbolise leaders in the bible. Here we seek to nurture leaders, both young and old.

Darach Mòr enjoys an elevated position and long balcony which offers a great vantage point to watch the wildlife and drink in the panoramic views of Loch Sunart and the Morvern Peninsula. It is a modern apartment design, clad in weathered Larch. With its exposed beams and full-length windows, it has an open, light and airy feel.

The fully equipped, spacious kitchen and dining area share the lower level. Climbing three steps leads you to the open-plan sitting room with a lovely wood-burning stove. Beyond this, behind voile curtains, is the comfy king-sized bed. The private dressing room next to the bed has views of the hills and forest. Above the kitchen is a cozy mezzanine space with low ceilings.

Darach Mòr is made available at a cost-based rate for guests coming to Greenwood in connection with the ministry of the Way of the Beloved. It is operated by Greenwood Retreat Ltd, and accommodation payments are made directly to Greenwood Retreat Ltd.

Uisge Beò and Camas Bàn Cottage are also operated and let by Greenwood Retreat Ltd at its usual accommodation rates. We include information about these cottages here so that visitors can easily see all the accommodation available at Greenwood.

Uisge Beò

Gaelic for Living Water

SLEEPS 2

This spacious cottage with circular living room and bedroom is nestled into the rock and has a picturesque waterfall with endless bubbling, living water.

Clad in sustainable Larch externally, with exposed beams made from local Douglas Fir on the inside, Uisge Beò is at one with its woodland setting. Its high ceilings and turreted bedroom create a light and airy feel. While the under floor heating, beneath terracotta tiles, and a wood burning stove ensure things remain cozy. You will fall asleep and wake to the sound of the tumbling waterfall and sweet bird song.

The spacious kitchen, with adjacent utility and drying room, leads to an open plan dining area with superb views over the gardens, orchard and loch. There is a sizeable bathroom with large bath and shower. Down a short staircase opens into a delightful circular sitting room. Upstairs is the bedroom with balcony. The front terrace and balcony soak up the sun during the day, while the evening sun is best enjoyed from the back deck, which is cantilevered over the burn.

Camas Bàn Cottage

Gaelic for fair bay

SLEEPS 2-4

This cottage and adjacent byre sit right on the shores of Camas Bàn. The bay has a varied mix of grass, rock pools and sand at low tide. It is very sheltered and provides a calm spot for fishing, paddle boarding or swimming. The views overlook Loch Sunart and the Morven peninsula. With frequent visits from inquisitive seals, elusive otters, cheeky pine marten and a vast array of garden and sea birds, this bay really is very fair!

The main cottage and adjacent byre were a derelict croft last inhabited over 120 years ago. Lovingly restored, it is delightfully comfortable, complete with underfloor heating, whilst retaining its original hardy and humble character.

The main cottage, with its exposed stone walls, is mainly open plan. It has a wood-burning stove enjoyed from a comfy L-shaped sofa. There is a picturesque dining area, a well-furnished kitchen, and a double bed hidden behind delicate, white curtains. In the bathroom, there is a shower and a short bath. The Byre is seven metres from the main cottage, and houses the utility room, bunk beds and sitting room. A South West stone terrace provides a lovely outdoor seating area.
